“We both agreed that a number of steps have been taken in recent weeks to overcome problems in our bilateral relations. Given these positive trends, we expect further constructive developments in the coming days and weeks,” the minister said.

Peter Sijarto also mentioned “steps to restore mutual trust” in the relations between Hungary and Ukraine in his message.

The day before, the Hungarian minister had a telephone conversation with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

It will be recalled that at the end of January, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba and Peter Siyarto held negotiations in Uzhhorod.

Yermak claimed that they proved the mutual desire of Kyiv and Budapest to hold a meeting at the highest level.

At the same time, the Hungarian minister said in early March that the meeting between Orban and Zelensky will not take place in the near future.

There has been no full-fledged meeting between the President of Ukraine Zelenskyi and Hungarian Prime Minister Orban since the beginning of Zelenskyi’s term.
