Agroecology Day brings together enterprises from the countryside and

The Agroecology Journey was created in 2002 and over the years it has visited different regions of the state of Paraná. For the fourth consecutive time, Curitiba will host the event, which takes place on the Rebouças campus of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), next to the Estação shopping mall, from November 22nd to 26th.

The 20th Agroecology Journey is being built jointly by around 60 organizations, social and popular movements, collectives and educational institutions.

“The Agroecology Journey portrays the organizational process of rural and agricultural workers, and for us, in the city, it is a fantastic experience of articulating the countryside and the city. […] The journey brings throughout its construction the principles and values of the Solidarity Economy, which are the values of another society, another form of social relations, of production. The Journey is an example of a self-managed organization, which we have followed in all our Solidarity Economy experiences”, points out Vanda de Assis, activist and popular educator at the Irmã Araújo Urban Rural Training Center (Cefuria), one of the organizations that make up the construction of the event.

The event, over its five days, will feature an agrobiodiversity fair, food space and a crafts fair, with products from the settlements and camps of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), indigenous peoples, traditional communities and Solidarity Economy collectives, including solidarity economic ventures from Rede Mandala – Paraná Network of Solidarity Economy Campo Cidade.

Furthermore, the 20th Agroecology Day will host musical shows and national and regional cultural presentations, seminars, conferences and workshops, in addition to a diversity of visiting spaces. On November 24th, from 9am to 11am, the conference “Cooperation for the construction of the Solidarity, Popular Economy and income generation – Presentation of experiences in construction” will be held, which will enable dialogue between members of solidarity economic enterprises, support and promotion of the Solidarity Economy (such as CEFURIA, TECSOL, Cáritas of the Archdiocese of Curitiba, etc.) and partner organizations, about their challenges, their perspectives and their strategies for strengthening.
