Base party in Arinaga
The base finals of the Gran Canaria League, Cabildo Insular Trophy, were held this weekend at the Cruce de Arinaga between the champions of each group, in one-lap competitions. With a dedicated audience, in the children’s category won the title at Unión Sardina, after managing to overcome Ramón Jiménez (19-7) and Maninidra (15-20) in hard fights. The Vecindario team has shown a high level throughout the season and had Maninidra, with half of its starting team made up of girls, as its greatest rival.
The cadet final was decided in an exciting third fight, in which the Saint Rita José Caldera They beat Unión Agüimes 19-16. The Lomo Los Frailes team made good on the victory obtained the previous day against Los Guanches (12-20) achieving a new title for the capital club’s showcases.
As a culmination, the final of the youth category would come, in which Castro Morales won the title, after beating Los Guanches 12-9. The Teltense team, with Francisco Santana as a mainstay, a first-year youth player who has a great room for improvement, achieved a valuable 9-12 victory on Saturday against Unión Agüimes, which cemented its championship, in a terrain that showed totally full.
