Case of Doctor Qory, Minister of PPP: Domestic Violence is Not a Disgrace, Victims Must Report

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga views the case of domestic violence (KDRT) experienced by Doctor Qory as an alarm for the community. Bintang emphasized that domestic violence cases are not a disgrace to the family so victims must have the courage to report them.

“Domestic violence is not a disgrace so the victim must have the courage to report it. It is not easy to get out of the confines of the perpetrator of domestic violence which is usually accompanied by threats, especially if family conditions only allow the perpetrators of domestic violence to act,” said Bintang in his statement on Monday (20/11/2023).

Bintang is concerned about the domestic violence that happened to Qory. Bintang supports Qory’s courage, who had the courage to escape from the perpetrator and seek safe refuge.

​”By having the courage to report, help can be provided to the victims immediately, as well as efforts to rescue the victim’s children,” said Bintang.

Bintang emphasized that domestic violence is no longer a private matter. But it became a matter for the State when the Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence (UU PKDRT) was written into the state gazette on September 22 2004.

“To all women who experience violence in their households, report it immediately,” said Bintang.

Previously, it was reported that after finding Doctor Qory Ulfiyah Ramayanti (37 years), the Bogor Police also found two pieces of evidence that there had been Domestic Violence (KDRT) committed by her husband, Willy Sulistio (39). Bogor Police also named Willy as a suspect.

Doctor Qory reportedly left his house on Monday (13/11/2023) after arguing with his husband. Doctor Qory’s disappearance went viral on social media, because her husband made a tweet on Qory’s X (Twitter) account.
