Lucknow. Like Samajwadi Party, Congress has also changed the tickets of two of its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Congress has made Mukesh Dhangar the candidate from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency, while the ticket of Nakul Dubey has been cut from Sitapur and the bet has been placed on Rakesh Rathore.

Congress has announced the names of its candidates for two seats in Uttar Pradesh, Mathura and Sitapur. Congress has given ticket to Mukesh Dhangar on Mathura seat. Whereas in Sitapur, Congress has changed its candidate and declared Rakesh Rathore as its candidate. Earlier there was a possibility of making boxer Vijender Singh the candidate from Mathura, but today he joined BJP.

On the other hand, in Sitapur, Congress has declared Rakesh Rathore as its candidate in place of Nakul Dubey. In UP, Congress is yet to announce candidates for Amethi, Rae Bareli and Prayagraj seats. Doubts persist regarding Rae Bareli and Amethi. Congress has got 17 seats under the alliance, out of which 14 have been announced.

Mukesh Dhangar has been declared the candidate from Mathura on Wednesday. He is also a member and state general secretary of the All India Congress Committee. He has also held various positions in student organizations and Youth Congress. He has deep influence in Dhangar society in Mathura. His name was earlier also in the proposed list of the party, but later the discussion started about fielding boxer Vijender Singh, but at the last moment Congress did not approve his name. Meanwhile he joined BJP.

Congress had declared former minister Nakul Dubey as its candidate from Sitapur. He had earlier also contested elections from Sitapur on BSP ticket, but due to opposition from local people, Congress had to change the ticket. On Wednesday, the name of former MLA Rakesh Rathore was announced in place of Nakul Dubey. He had become MLA on BJP ticket, but he resigned before the 2022 assembly elections, accusing him of ignoring the backward classes. He stayed in SP for some time and then joined Congress.
