Contempt of court case, Chief Election Commissioner summoned in personal capacity

The Peshawar High Court summoned the Chief Election Commissioner in a personal capacity in the contempt of court case related to the Workers’ Convention of Tehreek-e-Insaf.

A hearing was held in the Peshawar High Court on the contempt of court case related to the PTI Workers’ Convention.

Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Ijaz Anwar heard the case.

Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Aamir Javed appeared in court to process the case.

During the hearing, Justice Ijaz Anwar inquired that the work of the government, Advocate General, is to facilitate or create difficulties, we asked whether PTI is banned or not, you said that there is no ban.

Advocate General KP Aamir Javed told the court that even today I stand by my word that PTI is not banned.

Justice Ejaz Anwar said that it is not visible on the ground that PTI is not banned, it seems that the caretaker government and the Election Commission have failed, the administration is also playing in someone’s hands.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that when PTI applied for workers’ convention, the administration imposed Article 144.

Advocate General KP told the court that there was a law and order problem, hence Section 144 was imposed for four, five days.

Justice Ejaz Anwar said that if the situation is bad then why not postpone the election, if the situation is bad then how will the election be held? Why not call the Chief Election Commissioner? They will call the Chief Election Commissioner in a personal capacity and ask him, what is the purpose of the Chief Election Commissioner if they cannot conduct transparent elections.

The lawyer of PTI said in the court that the house of the lawyer who applied for workers convention was raided and harassed by the police. He said that above is only Allah, I don’t know who is above them.

During the hearing, Justice SM Atiq said in his remarks that Mr. Advocate General, implementation of the constitution and law is your responsibility.

On this, Advocate General KP Aamir Javed said that give me some time.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case for some time.
