England is the favorite team at Euro 2024, Southgate responds with class

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON — Coach Gareth Southgate said he was happy with the progress of the England national team during 2023, which was untouched by defeat. However, he warned the Three Lions must do something to win the Euro 2024 title.

“We wanted to see some different things, so we managed to learn from the match and also the result,” Southgate explained as reported Yahoo Sports, Tuesday (21/11/2023).

It could be said that the England national team is one of the favorite teams to travel to the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

Harry Kane and his friends emerged as winners of Group C with a collection of 20 points from six wins and two draws. The Three Lions have never lost in the entire Euro 2024 Qualification round.

These results clearly show a graph of improvement for Gareth Southgate’s squad since Euro 2020. The 53 year old coach is also enjoying the situation he is currently experiencing with the Three Lions team.

“I’m happy with the team’s progress. You know, if you said at the start of the season that we would have eight wins, two draws at the end of the year, that’s a pretty good record considering the fixture list we’re going through,” continued Southgate.

Now Southgate can prepare their squad for two interesting matches in March 2024 when they meet the Brazilian and Belgian national teams.

After playing these two matches, Southgate will select a squad of 23 players to fly to Hamburg, Germany for the 2024 European Championship.

“So, yes, I think we’ve done a lot of things well, but there’s always room for improvement.”
