Chandigarh. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal, under the scheme of honoring saints and spreading ideas, which was started at the government level to continuously celebrate the birth anniversaries of the saints, great men and brave women of the society, today is the birth anniversary of Jhalkari Bai, the commander of Rani Lakshmi Bai, in district Palwal. Was celebrated. On this occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal paid tribute to Jhalkari Bai on behalf of the people of the state.
To inspire the society with the story of such a great heroine, the Chief Minister announced that the Government Girls Senior Secondary School located at Agra Chowk, Palwal will be named after Jhalkari Bai. Apart from this, he also announced the construction of a grand building of Koli community in Ward No. 4 of Mohan Nagar, Palwal. A statue of Jhalkari Bai will also be installed in this building, so that future generations can be made aware of her stories. An amount of approximately Rs 3 crore will be spent on this.
Addressing the gathering present on this occasion, Shri Manohar Lal said that today is a very proud day when the birth anniversary of the brave lady Jhalkari Bai is being celebrated, because most of the people are not aware of it. He said that in the freedom struggle of 1857, we all have heard the name of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, but we do not know the name of the brave lady Jhalkari Bai that much in history. Veerangana Jhalkari Bai was a lookalike of the Queen of Jhansi and was the commander of the women’s army, who with her bravery sacrificed her life to save the life of the Queen of Jhansi and for the freedom of the country. Jhalkari Bai was born on November 22, 1830.
He said that Maithili Sharan Gupta has described Jhalkari Bai ji in her poem – She was a challenger in the battle after coming, she was Jhalkari of Jhansi. She learned to fight the whites, became a queen and showed her Jauhar, she was a woman of India who was reflected in history, she came and challenged in the battle, she was the reflection of Jhansi. He said that our aim is that the women and daughters of our society should take inspiration from Jhalkari Bai. In today’s era, our daughters are hoisting their flag in various fields including space, sports, defence.
Manohar Lal said that there have been many unsung heroes in India, history is full of them. But his name was not put forward by many previous governments. But under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government took the initiative to keep the names of such unsung heroes alive. In this series, the Prime Minister had also released a postage stamp in the name of Veerangana Jhalkari Bai. With his inspiration, we also started the Sant Mahapurush Samman and Thought Propagation Scheme in Haryana. Under which initiative was taken to celebrate the birth anniversaries and centenaries of saints and great men at the government level.
He said that today the central and state governments are naming big establishments and institutions after martyrs, saints and great men. But the previous governments used to name everyone after one family only, only one family was shining. But our thinking is that we will carry forward the name of those who have worked to show direction to the people of the country.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Energy and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar, Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma, Cooperative Minister Dr. Banwari Lal, Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar, Lok Sabha MP and Haryana BJP State President Naib Singh Saini, MLAs Deepak Mangala, Jagdish Nayyar, Praveen A large number of people from different districts including Dagar, Rajesh Nagar, Nayanpal Rawat, Narendra Gupta, Seema Trikha, Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Foundation head Radheshyam were present.
