Local Representatives: Suspending consideration of citizens’ cases and rulings under the previous reconciliation law

Representative Amr Darwish, Secretary of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the building violations reconciliation law contains 15 advantages and gains, explaining that the most prominent of them is stopping the consideration of cases and rulings issued against some citizens as a result of the application of the law in its previous version of 2019.

He pointed out during his statements to the program “In the Evening with Qaswa” broadcast on CBC on Monday evening, that the citizen who committed the violation will be given a statement to be presented to the Egyptian judiciary and the judicial departments before which the case is being examined. To stop deciding on it until the reconciliation request is considered.

He pointed to the government’s pledge to amend the Agriculture Law and Resolution No. 615 of 2019 regarding the issue of replacement, renewal and increases, noting that the law grants a 25% reduction in exchange for immediate and direct payment of the reconciliation amount for the violation.

He added that the law allocating a special code for civil defense regarding building violations would allow reconciliation of large numbers of violations within this framework, pointing out that the law allows reconciliation of building violations according to aerial photography by the end of October 15, 2023.

He pointed to the government’s announcement of its intention to reconcile all building violations, including prohibitions that may not be removed and returned to their original state again, by granting the Council of Ministers the authority to approve reconciliation with them, explaining that the executive regulations will clarify many problematic points.
