Morena will promote the agenda of the LGBTIQ+ population

Chihuahua, Chih.– During a meeting with members of the Citizen Observatory of Political Participation of the Sexual and Gender Diversity Population of Chihuahua, and various groups from across the state, the Morena Parliamentary Group, in the State Congress, committed to promoting an agenda inclusive legislation and guarantee respect for the rights of the LGBTIQ+ population.

Jorge Orquiz, president of the Observatory, highlighted that this approach is the first of many that will be carried out with the deputies that make up the 68th Legislature of the State Congress. The intention is to promote a legislative agenda that favors Sexual Diversity, and for these initiatives to prosper through a political lobbying exercise among all parliamentary groups.

At the meeting, held this Wednesday, October 16 at 4:00 pm, Representative Jael Argüelles, together with legislators Pedro Torres, Brenda Ríos, Leticia Ortega and Magdalena Rentería, reiterated their commitment to advancing this important agenda.

One of the central agreements was the commitment to promote the reform of the State Civil Code to allow equal marriages. In addition, a point of agreement will be promoted in Congress to guarantee respect for the rights of the LGBT community in the state of Chihuahua.

This effort included the participation of activists from different municipalities, including Ciudad Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Camargo, Meoqui, Delicias and Chihuahua, which reflects the scope and diversity of this movement.

Jorge Orquiz highlighted that the Observatory will play a fundamental role in the next steps of the process, facilitating more meetings with other parliamentary groups and building consensus that will allow legislative progress to be made in favor of the LGBTIQ+ community.
