Mudanya Municipality Orhan Kemal Library was opened

Mudanya Municipality Orhan Kemal Library opened its doors. Designed with the vision of bringing a new generation library to Mudanya, Orhan Kemal Library will operate as an education center as well as its rich book collections.

Orhan Kemal Library, named after Orhan Kemal, one of the important writers of Turkish literature history, was opened in Siteler District, which will serve Mudanya residents of all ages. The opening of the library was held with the participation of Mudanya Mayor Hayri Türkyılmaz and the founder of Orhan Kemal Museum, Writer Işık Öğütçü.

Speaking at the opening of the library, President Hayri Türkyılmaz said, “All our efforts are to ensure that our children can access information under contemporary and qualified conditions, on equal terms. Designed with the vision of bringing a new generation library to our city, Orhan Kemal Library will operate as a cultural and education center in addition to its rich book collections. We will keep the name of Writer Orhan Kemal, who wrote many works in his life, used his pen for human and social relations, and wrote about the life struggles of Anatolian people, in our city. “We would like to thank all our staff who contributed to the construction of our library,” he said. Orhan Kemal’s son, writer Işık Öğütçü, later signed his books for the children of Mudanya.
