Official sales of Jetta VA3 cars start in Russia | Auto

In Russia, official sales of Jetta VA3 cars, which are the Chinese analogue of Volkswagen, will begin this month, writes Gazeta.Ru, citing the joint press service of the Avtodom and AvtoSpetsTsentr companies.

In the fall, AutoSpetsTsentr Sever signed a dealer agreement with FAW for the distribution of Jetta VA3. The car is produced at FAW-Volkswagen in China, its platform is identical to the first generation Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid.

“FAW bought the Volkswagen Jetta. There is only one distributor. But they did not rename the model, since it has proven itself in the European market,” an employee of AutoSpetsCenter North told the publication.

Cars will be sold at prices starting from 1.8 million rubles. The sedan is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 112 horsepower, a manual transmission or a six-speed Aisin automatic. Options include an anti-theft system and a multimedia system with four speakers.

Earlier it was reported that cars that had previously been very popular in the domestic market began to be imported into Russia: the Chinese Volkswagen Passat and the Polo analogue, the Jetta VA3 sedan of the 2023 model year. Cars appeared on the territory of the Russian Federation thanks to parallel imports directly from China, bypassing the head office of the German brand. The cars were produced in a joint venture with FAW, due to which they were legally the property of the Chinese company.

Let us also recall that, according to the governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, the Volkswagen, PSMA Rus (Peugeot-Citroen) and Volvo automobile plants that have suspended production will resume their work in the region by the end of 2023.
