JAKARTA, BALIPOST.com – In securing the homecoming and returning flow for Eid 2024, National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo together with TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto checked the readiness of personnel involved in Operation Ketupat 2024. In this operation hundreds of thousands of personnel were deployed to secure the homecoming flow considering that community movement is predicted to increase by 56.4 percent.

The troop rally at Monas Square, Jakarta, Wednesday, was a form of final check on preparations for the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2024 which will last for 13 days, starting from April 4 to April 16.

In his message, the National Police Chief reminded the challenges that must be prepared to be faced by personnel involved in securing the homecoming and returning home for Eid, with the number of people’s movements increasing by 56 percent compared to last year’s homecoming.

For this reason, the personnel involved in Operation Ketupat 2024 provide excellent service so that the Eid homecoming and returning home can run better.

Based on a survey by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation in 2024, said Sigit, it is estimated that there is a potential for community movement of 193.6 million or an increase of 56.4 percent compared to 2023.

“Therefore, Mr President Joko Widodo emphasized that this year’s homecoming is a homecoming that will have a very large increase. “He invited the public to go home earlier and of course the implementation and security related to the homecoming and return flow could really be implemented better,” said Sigit, quoted from the Antara news agency, Wednesday (3/4).

Sigit said that Operation Ketupat 2024 involved 155,165 joint TNI-Polri personnel and other stakeholders.

Apart from personnel, the National Police also established 5,784 posts consisting of 3,772 security posts, 1,532 service posts and 480 integrated posts for service and security, especially on vulnerable routes such as traffic jams, accidents, crime and natural disasters as well as in busy centers. “Of course, the posts that are held must be able to provide excellent service and optimal service,” said Sigit.

Meanwhile, TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto said the TNI deployed 67,955 personnel to assist the Police in implementing Operation Ketupat 2024.

Apart from personnel, the TNI is also preparing land, sea and air transportation that can carry travelers from Jakarta to Semarang and Surabaya. Also includes Hercules, and helicopters. “On land, we are preparing buses and trucks as well as cranes and ambulances in every area,” said Agus.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, who was present, thanked the TNI-Polri for providing security for homecoming and return traffic.

“The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, as the coordinator for synchronizing and coordinating the control of the 2024 homecoming, thanks and appreciates the Chief of Police and Commanders of all ranks who have prepared all the equipment to provide the best possible service for the 2024 homecoming,” said Muhadjir.
