Famous composer Shinsadong Tiger passes away

Famous composer Shinsadong Tiger (real name Lee Ho-yang) passed away on the afternoon of the 23rd. He died at the age of 41.

Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said, “It is true that the Sinsa-dong tiger was found dead, but it is difficult to say the time and place.”

According to Yonhap News, no criminal charges have been found to date.

An acquaintance of Sinsa-dong Tiger found him collapsed in his studio and called 119, but he died.

Sinsa-dong Tiger is 4Minute’s ‘Hot Issue’, T-ara’s ‘Roly Poly’, Apink’s ‘No No No’ and ‘LUV’, and EXID’s ‘Up and Down’ and ‘Ah’. He was called a representative ‘hit maker’ in the music industry, producing many hit songs such as ‘AH YEAH’ and Momoland’s ‘Bboom Bboom’.

Born in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, he moved to Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do when he was in elementary school to follow his father’s job, and became obsessed with music, secretly learning drums at a night club during middle school.

At first, he dreamed of becoming a singer and lived a difficult life going to auditions for about four years starting in 2000. Then, by chance, he got a producing opportunity at an underground hip-hop label, and in 2004, he visited J Entertainment, which included artists such as Kim Gun-mo, Wax, and Jadu, and started working as the ‘youngest member’ under composer Choi Jun-young, turning his career as a composer.

Since then, Sinsa-dong Tiger has created representative songs for popular idol groups of the time such as Beast, 4Minute, and T-ara, and has become a top composer, earning hundreds of millions of won in annual copyright fees. He also promoted his composing pen name into a ‘brand’ and appeared in various TV and radio programs and advertisements.

In 2011, Sinsa-dong Tiger went one step further from being a composer and transformed into a record producer, establishing AB Entertainment and introducing the girl group EXID the following year in 2012.

However, Sinsa-dong Tiger filed an application for rehabilitation in court in 2017, saying, “We incurred debts from business acquaintances and were unable to recover funds lent to other companies.” The following year, the rehabilitation plan was to repay 70% of the debt over 10 years. They also experienced financial difficulties due to being accepted.

Recently, he served as the general producer of TR Entertainment and introduced the girl group Tri.B in 2021.

Tri-B released his fourth single ‘Diamond’, which he produced, on the 20th, and was scheduled to appear on KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’ that day.

Even on the 21st, two days before his death, Sinsa-dong Tiger continued to communicate with the outside world through social networking services (SNS) by releasing the choreography draft for Try B’s new song and announcing that he had visited Yangyang.
