President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statements at the press conference he held with his counterpart Abdülmecid Tebbun in Algeria are as follows:

Mr. President, my dear brother, dear ministers, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings. I am happy to be here again after my visit in 2020. I would like to thank my brother for the positive acceptance shown to me.

We held the first meeting with Mr. Tebbun in Ankara, where we decided to establish the high-level council. We held the second meeting of the council today and had a productive meeting. We will closely follow the projects that will be implemented.

Türkiye and Algeria have ties of friendship and brotherhood that last for centuries. We aim to reach 6 billion in 5.3 billion trade. Hopefully, we will achieve 10 billion trade by increasing our efforts. I believe that a preferential trade agreement will help us. We are watching Mr. Tebbun’s efforts. We are proud that our companies are the largest investors and employment providers. We are pleased with Algeria’s investments in our country. We are proud to have our companies in Algeria’s infrastructure investments. We wish to diversify relations in energy and renewable energy with new partnerships. The natural gas contract showed a good example of this. We also see the potential in the defense industry and we evaluated what we can do in this field. We accelerated our efforts to open mutual cultural centers.

We do not accept Israeli attacks

We also talked about the humanitarian tragedy in Palestine. Algeria is one of the countries that gives the strongest support. We appreciate Algeria’s determined stance on the Palestinian issue. Our priority is the ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. We offer the necessary contribution to the process. The establishment of a Palestinian state is now inevitable. Negotiations continue for hostages
