It was claimed that Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu could be a candidate from another province other than Tunceli or could be nominated from another party. Maçoğlu, who participated live in the ‘You Have the Word’ program on Halk TV, hosted by Gözde Şeker, responded to the allegations. Answering the questions of journalist Barış Terkoğlu, Maçoğlu said:
The general view of our institution is to continue with the current TKP. There is no further discussion going on. Of course, after the alliance, we do not know whether the alliances will continue or whether there will be divisions, but it is going well now. Even though there are disputes about some regions from time to time, it is going well. I will continue on this question, at least in the current batch. There was no debate about this, let me tell you that. If there is no separation in alliances, we will continue with the current situation. Other than that, there was no argument. We establish warm relationships. We maintain good relations with many socialist left and democratic institutions.
At a time when poverty puts so many people in a difficult situation and when they experience so many problems ranging from education to health, from health to nature, from nature to living conditions and housing, socialists, intellectuals and conscientious people need to take concrete responsibility in this process. If the day comes and we shouldn’t be, we shouldn’t be. The general trend of the country really worries us all. We are having many discussions about freedoms and democracy. It’s a worrying thing for all of us. Regardless of politics, everyone must assume responsibility in line with the criteria I have mentioned. Today we cannot leave this to bourgeois politics. Socialists have to take responsibility, this is a must. Is it from that party or not?
Asked by Terkoğlu about the allegations that he will be a candidate from Kadıköy, Beşiktaş, Marmaris, Kuşadası and Didim, Maçoğlu said the following:
When some friends ask this, I say ‘well, I don’t know either’. I have been running for mayor in a province every month for the last two years. Maybe there could be a discussion about where they want to see me. I would like to say this, the collective has no concerns about all the provinces and districts and mayoralties of this country, it is capable of managing all municipalities, capable of advancing all municipalities. Even though they measure these issues by the vote rate in the election, there is a socialist politics in this country that is well equipped to analyze and manage practical issues.
