The sale was organized by the US startup AC Momento, which collaborates with high-profile athletes (such as Messi) to help them manage their collections of sports memorabilia.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Únicas Project. Which is led by the Sant Joan de Déu (Sjd) pediatric hospital in Barcelona – with the support of the Leo Messi Foundation – to help children suffering from rare diseases.

This project follows the work that the Leo Messi Foundation has completed with the Sjd Barcelona Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cancer Center, which treats 400 children with cancer every year.
The shirts will be displayed at Sotheby’s headquarters in New York. In an exhibition open to the public and free from November 30th to December 14th.
