SNA: Mossad originally planted explosives in Hezbollah pagers
Israeli intelligence agency Mossad initially planted explosives in pagers, which were then delivered to supporters of the Shiite Hezbollah movement in Lebanon, Sky News Arabia reports.
According to the agency, the chemical substance PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) was placed in the batteries of the pagers, and then, due to a sharp increase in temperature, provoked by Israeli intelligence specialists, it detonated.
It is noted that ptaerythritol tetranitrate is a powerful explosive substance, which in its pure form is used to equip detonator caps, and as an admixture – to equip cumulative supplies, detonating cord. PETN is a white powder of crystalline appearance, when heated it decomposes, often with an explosion.
Hezbollah supporters received the pagers about five months ago, and the explosives contained no more than 20 grams per device, the authors of the publication claim.
Earlier, former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden suggested that the mass explosion of pagers in Lebanon could have occurred due to the detonation of explosive devices built into them, and not a hacker attack.
Let us recall that according to the latest data from the Republican Ministry of Health, eight people were killed and about 2,750 were injured due to the mass detonation of pagers in Lebanon. The Hezbollah movement blamed Israel for the mass explosions of pagers.
