Sobyanin: the main work on the improvement of the embankments of the Yauza River has been completed

In Moscow, more than 20 km of embankments of the Yauza River have been put in order, and the main improvement work has been completed. The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced this.

He recalled that in the 30s of the last century, most of the river bed was decorated with granite embankments. However, they were inconvenient for pedestrians due to narrow sidewalks and poor lighting.

“Now the renewed embankments of the Yauza once again decorate the architectural appearance of the city,” the mayor emphasized.

In 2024, by Sobyanin’s decision, the embankments of Academician Tupolev, Bernikovskaya, Golovinskaya, Andronevskaya, Hospital, Zolotorozhskaya, Lefortovo, Nikoloyamskaya, Poluyaroslavskaya, Podgorskaya, Preobrazhenskaya, Rubtsovskaya, Semenovskaya, Rusakovskaya, Syromyatnichesaya, Ustinskaya, etc. were landscaped in Moscow.

Specialists changed the transport layout on most of the embankments, and by optimizing the roadway, they widened the sidewalks. As a result, it became comfortable for both pedestrians and motorists.

A bicycle and pedestrian bridge has appeared between the Hospital and Rubtsovskaya embankments. It is located near the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.

As part of the improvement work on the Yauza embankments, 392.5 thousand square meters were repaired. meters of roadway and 276 thousand sq. meters of sidewalks, replaced 87 thousand linear meters of curb stones and 766 outdoor lighting poles, organized almost 70 new pedestrian crossings, planted a lawn on an area of ​​123.3 thousand square meters. meters, installed 10 modern stopping pavilions, 46 pedestrian navigation steles and about 700 small architectural forms. Road, railway and pedestrian bridges have also been repaired. It is planned to plant about 650 trees along the embankments of the Yauza River.

Earlier, Sobyanin said that 12 new metro stations would be built in Moscow in three years.
