In the memory of Gujarat’s first Urdu poet ‘Wali’ Gujarati, Gujarat Sahitya Academy honors Murdhanya Ghazals with the Wali Award every year. This year famous poet, ghazal writer Amar Palanpuri is honored with the famous ‘Wali’ Gujarati Ghazal Award. This award was presented by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi.

In the ‘Wali’ Gujarati Ghazal Award presentation ceremony held at the Adarsh ​​Hall of Athvalines, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi honored poet Amar Palanpuri, appreciating his invaluable contribution to poetry, ghazal and literature. Appreciated the efforts of Gujarat Sahitya Academy to promote literary talent and preserve the heritage of Gujarati literature through various programmes. Describing the important role of language and culture in the development of a country or state, the Minister appealed to the people to stay connected with literature.

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi also said that plans are underway to build libraries on the roads and streets of the city in the coming days to connect people with books and reading. He appealed to the nine youth to increase interest in literature and promote their language and culture.

It is noteworthy that the Ghazal singers selected for the Wali Award are honored with a prize money of Rs 1 lakh by the Wali Gujarati Award. On this occasion, Academy President Bhagyesh Jha, Dr. Mahamatra of Gujarat Sahitya Academy. Dr. Jayendra Singh Jadav, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Chancellor Dr. Kishore Singh Chavda, poet, writer and psychiatrist Dr. Mukul Choksi and other poets and literature lovers were present.
