The Alicante Smartphone Film Festival promoted by the Provincial Council launches a section dedicated to local authors

«From the Provincial Council we consider it essential to promote this type of initiatives that enhance culture and talentin general, and cinema, in particular, and serve as a platform for local authors to promote themselves and make their work known beyond our province,” said Navarro.

The event, led by David Seva, has received more than 150 national and international works, as well as a total of sixty short films from the towns of San Vicente Del Raspeig, Novelda, Xixona, Petrer, Elche, Torrevieja, Sant Joan d’Alacant and Santa Pola. As Seva explained, the winning short film in the new section dedicated to local filmmakers will receive, in addition to the award, a financial prize of 500 euros and distribution at festivals of all the world.

On the other hand, the Alicante actor Luis Miguel Segui will head the festival jury, which will also include the members of Flying HeadSamy and Arly, animation filmmakers, and the film director, Alfredo Navarro. In total, 2,500 euros will be awarded in prizes among the categories of Shorts from the Province of Alicante, Fiction, Comedy, Animation, International and Fight against climate change. In addition, awards will be given for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.

From November 21 to 25

Alicante Smartphone Film Festival will be held in the city of Alicante starting this Tuesday the 21st with various activities, workshops and screenings to publicize the techniques of the audiovisual world through these tapes made with smartphones. The gala of closure will take place at the Kinépolis cinemas on Saturday November 25 at 8:30 p.m. and will be hosted by the actress Vanessa Romero.

Regarding the parallel activities, coordinated by Victoria Sevathe programming includes animation workshops with recyclable material ‘fight against climate change‘, which will take place on Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd in collaboration with Waters of Alicante. On Thursday the 23rd, within the Alicante Futura Congressscreenings of the short films in competition will be held at the Kinépolis cinemas in Alicante and on Friday the 24th the activity ‘Film Hospital‘ with an introduction to cinema workshop focused exclusively on children and young people hospitalized in the Oncology unit of the Pediatrics service of the Doctor Balmis General Hospital.

The Alicante Smartphone Film Festival also has the support from the Alicante City Council, the Local Development Agency, Alicante Futura, Aguas de Alicante and Coca-Cola, among other collaborating companies.
