Periodic cancellations of concerts of Russian artists in Kazakhstan, as a rule, are due to organizational difficulties. However, this trend does not affect the country’s bilateral relations with Russia—this opinion was shared by the Russian Consul General in Almaty, Dmitry Turaev, on Monday, February 12.
“In many cases, the difficulties with holding a concert of this or that artist can be explained very simply: in some cases the organizers were unable to prepare the necessary package of documents, in a number of cases there were disputes between business entities, and there was talk of canceling performances due to unsettled security issues. Nevertheless, I think it is incorrect to present the situation in this area as problematic,” the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.
As an example, he discussed the situation with the organization of tours of Tatyana Navka’s ice show “The Love Story of Scheherazade.” It took place in Almaty last December, but difficulties arose at the preparatory stage due to unresolved contractual relations between the organizers and the administration of the concert complex, Turaev said. Nevertheless, in the end everything ended well and the premiere of the ice show took place, the ambassador concluded.
In Almaty, in September 2023, the sale of tickets for “The Love Story of Scheherazade” was suspended. As sales operator Topbilet explained then, the corresponding decision was made at the request of the concert organizers.
