The launch of the activities of the First International Forum and Exhibition for Sustainable Agriculture

Today, His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Water, Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli, opened the activities of the First International Sustainable Agriculture Forum and Exhibition, under the slogan “Developing agriculture using optimal exploitation of natural resources,” which is organized by the National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidama) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in the presence of International, regional and local experts and specialists in the agricultural sector.
His Excellency the Director General of the National Center for Research and Development for Sustainable Agriculture, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Suqair, noted the unlimited support that the agricultural sector receives from the wise leadership, indicating that the agricultural sector constitutes a basic pillar of national food security, pointing to the efforts and hard work provided by the environment, water, agriculture and sector systems. Private sector, which has resulted in distinguished achievements, including achieving self-sufficiency in many agricultural products, and the qualitative leaps that the sector is witnessing in several areas, including the application of modern technologies in the stages of production, and maximizing the use of various water sources, such as harvesting rainwater, renewed water, and others. Emphasizing the contribution of the strong supply chain system to sparing the Kingdom the effects of international crises and the repercussions of the Corona pandemic and climate change.
He said: “Scientific research, development and innovation, and the accumulation of agricultural knowledge and experience over the past decades, contributed to creating a qualitative shift in agricultural production, both plant and animal, which had the greatest impact in providing food for the increasing number of people, and there is still much that has enabled scientists to And innovators can provide it for food security, the preservation of natural resources, and the innovation of solutions to the challenges facing food production.” He pointed out that organizing the first international forum and exhibition for sustainable agriculture came to provide opportunities for cooperation, exchange of ideas, transfer and localization of modern agricultural technologies, and stimulate research and innovation in the agricultural field. To create more effective agricultural systems, through carefully selected main axes, and with the participation of distinguished experts and specialists internationally, thanking His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, members of the Board of Directors, guests of the Forum, and employees of the Estidama Center, for the efforts made to make the Forum a success.

On a related level, the first day’s sessions discussed maximizing the use of natural resources in agricultural production. Professor Dr. Nasr al-Din al-Obaid, Director General of the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), participated as a keynote speaker, while the same topic was discussed over four sessions, which touched on sustainability in water use, enhancing agricultural production by improving soil properties, and enhancing The economic value and use of wild plant species, and the use of biostimulants to improve agricultural production.
