The Pentagon disclosed the purpose of Austin’s visit to Ukraine

Minister of Defense of the United States of America Lloyd Austin during his visit to Ukraine, he will hold high-level talks with the Ukrainian leadership in Kyiv.

The parties will discuss partnership between the countries and Washington’s military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the press service of the Pentagon reports.

“Discussions will be focused on further strengthening of the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine. The negotiations will also include providing the Ukrainian army with the necessary combat capabilities, both for the winter period and to protect the state from future Russian threats,” the message said.

The head of the Pentagon will emphasize the commitment of the United States to Ukraine’s security assistance, which is necessary to protect against Russian aggression. And will also discuss the long-term vision of the future of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later this week, Austin will hold the 17th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine virtually from the Pentagon. Representatives of about 50 countries will take part in the meeting.
