After the Van Provincial Election Board decided by majority vote that Zeydan should be “deemed unelected” on the grounds that he was “not eligible to be elected” and that the certificate of election should be delivered to the second-ranked candidate who received the most votes and was eligible to be elected, upon the objection of the DEM Party, the YSK accepted the application. He ruled that the certificate of election should be given to Zeydan.

Following this decision, DEM Party members started to demonstrate with joy in the city, and Zeydan came together with opinion leaders, NGO representatives and business people at the hotel in the city and made a statement.

Stating that the Supreme Electoral Board “reverted from its mistake” and that there were some problems in the city during the pre-decision period, Zeydan said:

“We will now look ahead, we have a lot of work to do. These elections will pave the way for social peace, strengthen the will of an honorable, together and free life, and hopefully lead to beneficial services for our city. We will achieve this together with you. The next process will lead to good deeds, social peace and “We hope that it will enable us to produce beneficial services for our city. This city is our city. We will produce services day and night, hand in hand, and create a city worthy of you.”

Party members gathered in the city center and formed a convoy with vehicles and showed joy.

Meanwhile, some groups among the crowd threw stones at the police. Thereupon, police teams intervened in the crowd and caused them to disperse.
