Dramatic scenes occurred during the early hours of Thursday in Nueva Córdoba. A 19-year-old young man saved his life after escaping from a burning apartment, but another died after jumping into the void and a third is in serious condition.

It all started around 4:45 a.m. in the Aguaribay building, located at Yrigoyen 398, when apartment 12 A began to catch fire, police sources indicated.

Pablo Acasa, one of the three young students from Jujuy who were in the building, managed to descend to a balcony on the 11th floor and was rescued by firefighters who managed to enter through the adjacent complex, María Reina II.

Tiziano Tejerina (18) and Sebastián Diquin (19) apparently threw themselves into an internal patio as the fire advanced. The first died and Diquin was admitted to the Emergency Hospital in serious condition.

“I started hearing screams. I saw someone hanging between two buildings and I saw something fall, which was a person. I thought it was a party, but I realize it wasn’t,” a witness told Miter Córdoba.

As a precaution, 35 people self-evacuated from the building. Firefighters extinguished the flames and a policewoman suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, for which she was referred to the Police Polyclinic.
