Anti-Semitic threats against Cyril Hanouna and Arthur: a man sentenced to six months in prison

Threats which did not remain without consequences. A 30-year-old man from the Bordeaux region (Gironde) was sentenced to six months in prison this Thursday, March 28 for having threatened the hosts Cyril Hanouna and Arthur on social networks, report our colleagues from Sud Ouest.

He had sent threatening messages of an anti-Semitic nature to the two presenters at the beginning of November, as well as to a bodyguard of Cyril Hanouna. The man was arrested in November, before being indicted and placed under judicial supervision. “The accused admitted all the facts and threats,” said the public prosecutor of Bordeaux, Frédérique Porterie.

“I reacted in a moment of irritation”

During their investigations, the police had found “threats targeting Arthur and Cyril Hanouna” on the suspect’s phone and computer, said the prosecutor, who had also received a complaint filed by a guard from the Nanterre prosecutor’s office. from the body of Cyril Hanouna for the same facts.

“When I’m angry, I don’t mean what I say. I became aware afterwards. I didn’t think it would go this far. These messages shame me, because it is not like me at all,” this driving school instructor reacted in court. The 30-year-old also insisted that he was “in no way anti-Jewish”: “In the news feed, I saw videos that touched me. I reacted in a moment of irritation. I wanted to express my point of view and had no intention of taking action,” he defended himself.

Arguments which did not completely convince the Bordeaux court, since the defendant was sentenced to six months in prison and was required to complete a citizenship and anti-discrimination course. He will also have to compensate his two victims, with whom he is prohibited from coming into contact.
