Democratic candidates dominate in all major battlegrounds and exit polls

Exit polls from three terrestrial broadcasters on the 10th in all constituencies that were considered major battlegrounds in determining the results of the April 10 general election showed that the Democratic Party of Korea is expected to receive more votes. According to the exit poll results, the pan-opposition party will secure around 200 seats.

Districts in Seoul that have been considered major battlegrounds include Yongsan, Dongjak, and Jung-Seongdong, which are located on the Han River. According to various opinion polls, Yongsan, which showed a close race within the margin of error throughout, was found to be a close race in which it was difficult to predict the winner. However, according to the exit poll results, Democratic Party candidate Kang Tae-woong had 50.3% and People Power Party candidate Kwon Young-se had 49.3%.

Dongjak-eul was the battleground between People Power Party candidate Na Kyung-won and Democratic Party candidate Ryu Sam-young, a ‘political rookie’ who used to be a police officer. It was selected by both the ruling and opposition parties as an important constituency that will determine victory in Seoul, and the exit poll showed candidate Ryu at 52.3% and candidate Na at 47.7%.

It is also difficult to predict the outcome of the Jung-Seongdong race, where Democratic Party candidate Park Sung-joon and People Power Party candidate Lee Hye-hoon faced off, but candidate Park was predicted to have an advantage over candidate Lee, who was expected to get 52.8% and 47.2%.

In Gyeyang-eul, Incheon, where presidential candidates were competing, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myeong was expected to get 56.1% and People Power Party candidate Won Hee-ryong was expected to get 43.8%.

Democratic Party candidates in Bundang Province, which was considered a major battleground throughout the election period, were dominant in the exit poll results. In Seongnam Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, Democratic Party candidate Lee Gwang-jae was expected to beat People Power Party candidate Ahn Cheol-soo (47.2%) with 52.8%, and in Seongnam Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, Democratic Party candidate Kim Byeong-wook won 51.7%, beating People Power Party candidate Kim Eun-hye, who was expected to get 48.3%. The likelihood of being elected was predicted to be higher.

In Hwaseong-eul, Gyeonggi Province, where New Reform Party candidate Lee Jun-seok narrowed the gap, exit polls showed that Democratic Party candidate Gong Young-woon was the most dominant. Candidate Kong has 43.7%, People Power Party candidate Han Jeong-min has 15.8%, and Lee has 40.5%, making it difficult to predict the outcome between the two candidates.

In Suwonjeong, a contest between Democratic Party candidate Kim Jun-hyuk, who was controversial in the past for making degrading remarks about women, and People Power Party candidate Lee Soo-jeong, who was embroiled in controversy after defending President Yoon Seok-yeol’s “875 won per green onion” statement, candidate Kim is expected to receive 54.7% of the votes. It was expected that he would beat candidate Lee (45.3%).

The exit poll results showed that Yangsan-eul, South Gyeongsang Province, was a close race in which it was still difficult to predict the outcome. Democratic Party candidate Kim Doo-gwan had 50.6% and People Power Party candidate Kim Tae-ho had 49.4%, so whichever candidate wins, it is expected to be a new victory.

In the third match between Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang in South Chungcheong Province, Democratic Party candidate Park Soo-hyun and People Power Party candidate Jeong Jin-seok, exit polls showed that Park would have a slight lead. Candidate Park was expected to compete with 52.0% and Chung 47.2%.
