‘Dalseo-gap candidacy’ Yoo Young-ha also goes on stage… Former staff members including Kim Kwan-jin and Jo Yun-seon attended.
Former President Park Geun-hye said on the 5th, “Although I may have made minor mistakes during my time in office, I was proud and proud because I thought I never intentionally did anything embarrassing to myself or to the public.”
At a book concert held at a hotel in Daegu to commemorate the publication of her memoirs, former President Park held a book concert where the host asked, ‘What was the hope that allowed you to endure a life of hardship in prison? When asked, ‘There must have been a lot of injustice, how did you endure it?’ he said, “It would be a lie if I said it wasn’t difficult and it wasn’t unfair.”
He then received applause by saying, “That, along with the comfort of the people, served as a pillar of strength to protect us through difficult times.”
He added, “However, it was really hard for me to disappoint the people because I failed to properly manage someone who was so close to me. Anyway, I was able to endure it calmly because I thought the truth would be revealed someday.”
Former President Park bowed her head and said, “I tried to repay the great love I received from many people in any way possible, but it was stopped due to the impeachment and I was unable to properly repay it, so I am just sad and sorry.”
Former President Park went on stage with her trademark bun hair and dressed in a black jacket and white pantsuit. He expressed his opinions for about 90 minutes, crossing topics ranging from his daily life to his achievements during his term as president and his evaluation of the Moon Jae-in administration.
Regarding the reason for writing the memoir, he said, “As a person who served as president, I decided to write it with the thought that by writing about the things I regretted and revealing what I thought was a good decision, it could serve as a lesson to future generations.”
In relation to former President Park’s comment in her memoir that ‘I have retired from politics, but I want to play a role for the people in whatever way I can from now on,’ she said, “I have already said this many times, but I have left politics and will not do politics again.” “I have regrets about what I was unable to do while in office, and I hope that someone will do it now,” he said.
He added, “I will not engage in politics, but the love I have received from the people is so great and grateful that I will do whatever I can to repay them.”
He said, “I have been refraining from going out due to health issues and writing my memoir, but from now on I plan to meet people more often,” and added, “I hope to be able to see many people naturally by going to the market or going to nearby tourist attractions.”
On the stage of the book concert were Attorney Yoo Young-ha and Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Heo Won-je, the only close associates whom he was allowed to visit during his time in prison. Attorney Yoo applied for nomination to the People Power Party, saying he would run for Dalseo-gap, Daegu, in this general election.
When Attorney Yoo’s eyes got teary-eyed while talking about the most impressive moment about former President Park, former President Park comforted him by saying, “I feel like my throat gets sore often. There have been so many surprising things.”
Some of the Park Geun-hye administration’s personnel were invited to the event, including former National Security Office Director Kim Kwan-jin, former Minister of National Defense Han Min-gu, former Security Chief Park Heung-ryeol, former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cho Yoon-sun, and former Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Kim Jae-soo. The audience was estimated by the organizers to be 800 people.
A wreath sent by President Yoon Seok-yeol was placed in front of the event venue, and there were also wreaths from people including People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon, Secretary-General Jang Dong-hyuk, and former Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Finance Choi Kyung-hwan.
