Expand the focus of the circular economy to the South, uniting the most crucial sectors of Made in Italy with stakeholders, institutions and businesses across the entire Mediterranean basin. To support this vision, Rekeepthe main Italian player active in integrated facility management, takes part in the XVI ECOMED editionthe GREEN EXPO with focus on the Mediterranean, created to create an innovative meeting point between supply and demand of ideas and technologies that promote sustainability and circularity, promoting a new lifestyle in harmony with the environment.

Previews, news, institutions, national and international experts will be the protagonists of the fair, a unique showcase that will open its doors in Catania from 17 to 19 April 2024 in the Misterbianco exhibition center of SiciliaFiera, focusing on the most innovative solutions and materials for living comfort, circularity in the construction sector, urban recovery actions, green building, water and energy saving, seismic protection, home automation and security .

Rekeep’s participation in the event is part of the Group’s activity, which, thanks to its experience in the management, maintenance and energy requalification of large public and private buildings, has been committed to highlighting, promoting studies, events and project proposals, the importance of a large-scale investment that can no longer be postponed aimed at redevelopment of Italian public real estateamong the largest energy consumers in our country.

The European Union has also strongly underlined the importance of an intervention of this type on public, as well as private, heritage, with the new directive on energy performance in buildings (EPBD – Energy Performance of Buildings Directive), approved by the European Parliament in March this year. The objective of the new EPBD is, in fact, to progressively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in the building sector by 2030 and to have a zero-emission building stock in the member states by 2050. In particular, the member countries will have to restructure the 16% of non-residential buildings (both public and private) with the lowest energy performance by 2030 and 26% by 2033, introducing minimum efficiency requirements.

To best face a transition of this magnitude it is necessary to join forces between public and private, both from a financial point of view and, above all, planning capacity: only a large-scale intervention by the Public Administration, but with the involvement of the private sector, would in fact be able to guarantee the necessary stimulus to the economy, avoiding distorted effects on the market without worsening the state’s accounts. This collaboration is already possible today thanks to instrument of public-private partnershipa contractual formula which requires the private individual to support investments to redevelop public buildings and, at the same time, obliges them to carry out the necessary interventions in a timely and effective manner if they want to recoup their investment.

Private companies can, therefore, be a fundamental ally of the PA capable of systematizing additional resources in an accelerating logic of investments, as well as providing the planning skills to generate real efficiencies and reduction in consumption.

Among those awarded and currently being evaluated, there are over 20 PPPs presented by Rekeep which, if approved, could implement investments in energy efficiency and decarbonisation actions amounting to over 110 million euros in the coming years, entirely at our expense.

Among the PPPs already launched, Rekeep has completed projects which, throughout Italy, have allowed some municipalities to cut consumption by more than 20%. and to benefit from redevelopment interventions of schools, offices and gyms for over 3 million euros at our expense. Even more significant are and would be the benefits in the healthcare sector where consumption can be reduced by 50%.
