The Ukrainian President enacted a law to mobilize more troops in the face of the Russian invasion, a text considered controversial because it did not provide for a demobilization period for soldiers. The document was presented this Tuesday to Volodymyr Zelensky, who signed it, according to a note published on the Ukrainian Parliament’s website. Ukraine, which faces a shortage of volunteer soldiers, had been working on the text for several months.
The Ukrainian leader says he has information from the secret services that Russia will try to intensify attacks at the front in the coming weeks. “It is obvious that the Kremlin’s madness continues to be unleashed and the occupier will try to intensify its attacks and offensive actions,” said Zelensky.
Russia will be invited to the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, in June, but the invitation will not be extended to the Russian President due to the invasion of Ukraine, the French organization announced. “Given the circumstances, President Putin will not be invited to participate in the celebrations of the landing in Normandy”, said the Liberation Mission, adding that “Russia will, however, be invited to be represented due to the importance of commitment and sacrifices of the Soviet peoples, as well as their contribution to the victory of 1945, be honored.”
