60 martyrs from one family in Gaza in two Israeli attacks

The Tabatabi family in Gaza is in mourning for the second time in less than a month, after Israeli raids on the buildings in which they were sheltering led to the death of more than 60 of their members.
The latest raid was launched in the early hours of Friday morning on the crowded Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, killing at least 25 members of the Al-Tatabibi family, according to what a relative told AFP.
On a narrow street, the six-storey building where the Tabatibi family was sheltering was still standing on Friday morning, but now all that remained were sagging balconies and a charred ground floor piled with rubble.
Khaled Al-Tatabibi, a family member who survived, told AFP, “We were sleeping… We did not hear any missile or anything.”
He added, “We went down and found my sisters, their sons and daughters, all of them martyred, all of them in pieces… We do not know why they targeted the house, it was a massacre.”
For his part, the family’s neighbor, Ziad Dardas, whose brother was injured in the raid, told Agence France-Presse, “All we saw was a missile that exploded and our neighbors caught fire.” This is madness, this is the height of crime on the part of our leaders and the leaders of Israel.”
He added, “I say to the (Palestinian) authority and to the leaders of Hamas, is this not enough?”
The dead and wounded were transferred to the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, most of which was destroyed during the recent Israeli military operation.
The Tabatibi family, which had been displaced due to Israeli bombing several times, was already in a state of mourning.
On March 15, the family gathered in central Gaza to eat breakfast, a session that quickly turned into a bloodbath.
Witnesses told Agence France-Presse at the time that an air strike hit the building in which they were while the women were preparing suhoor meals, killing 36 members of the family.
Survivors held Israel responsible for the attack, as did the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, which provided the same death toll.
Muhammad al-Tabatibi said at the time in the “Martyrs of Al-Aqsa” hospital in nearby Deir al-Balah, before transporting the bodies of his relatives for burial, “This is my mother, this is my father, this is my aunt, and these are my brothers.. They bombed the house while we were in it.” My mother and aunt were preparing the suhoor meal. They were all martyred. I don’t know why they bombed the house and committed a massacre.”
