A source at the Ministry of Transport confirmed to Al-Shorouk that it has been decided that the high-speed train stations will be similar in architectural design to each other according to their location on the line’s route, meaning that the initial and final stations of the line will be similar, and the regional stations will be of the same design in the three lines, as well as the similarity of the stations. fast with each other. According to information from the National Tunnel Authority, the high-speed train is a new means of mass transportation that is faster and more comfortable, as its design allows it to travel at speeds of up to 250 km/hour. The authority described it as a huge civilizational leap in the field of rail transportation with electric traction in particular, and in the field of transportation in particular. General.

It is planned that the entire project will link industrial areas (production areas) with sea ports (export centers), as well as link modern agricultural development areas with consumption areas and export ports, and tourist, cultural and religious areas with each other. The authority said that the project contributes to making Egypt a center for global trade and logistics, as it will link production areas (industrial/agricultural/mining/services) with seaports through clean, fast, and safe means of transportation.

According to the authority’s information about the final position of the project, the first line (Sokhna – Matrouh) extends about 675 kilometers long and has 21 stations (8 stations for the regional train – 13 stations for the express train), and starts from Sokhna station on the Red Sea coast, passing through the New Administrative Capital and Alexandria. And El Alamein and ending with Matrouh station on the Mediterranean coast. The authority said that the project includes a main workshop and 3 maintenance points, and will operate 15 express trains, 34 regional trains, and 14 cargo tractors, and is integrated with the light electric train project at the Administrative Capital station, and with the second line of the express train network at October Gardens station, and with the Western Monorail. She pointed out that the stations designated for the high-speed train on the first line are (Ain Sokhna – Administrative Capital – 6th of October – Borg El Arab – Alexandria – El Alamein – El Dabaa – Mohamed Naguib – Helwan – South Giza – October Gardens – Sphinx – Sadat – Wadi El Natroun – El Nubaria – Al Amriya – Al Hammam – Sidi Abdel Rahman – Fouka – Ras El Hikma).

Regarding the second line (6 October – Abu Simbel), it extends 1,100 kilometers west of the Western Upper Egypt Desert Road, with stations being established in areas at the intersection of the Nile axes, and achieving an exchange of service with the first line at the October Gardens station. The line includes 36 stations, 10 express train stations, and 26 regional train stations. The project includes a main workshop and two maintenance points, and 20 express trains, 48 ​​regional trains, and 20 cargo tractors will be operated.

The second phase includes stations (Minya – Assiut – Sohag – Qena – Luxor – Beni Mazar – Samalout – Abu Qurqas – Mallawi – Dayrut – Al-Qusiya – Manfalut – Abu Tig – Al-Ghanaim – Tahta – Juhayna – Abydos – Farshout – Nag Hammadi – Dishna – Qus).

As for the third line (Qena – Safaga), its route extends from the interchange station with the second line (Qena Station), then extends east to Hurghada and then to the port of Safaga, with a length of about 225 kilometers. The project includes 3 stations, two stations for the express train, and a station for the regional train. .

The project includes a maintenance point, and 12 express trains, 6 regional trains, and 12 goods tractors will be run. After its completion, the line will connect the port of Safaga to the high-speed train network, which will serve the movement of goods transportation and help stimulate internal trade, in addition to serving tourism of all kinds. It will also contribute to Transporting the movement of passengers and goods from the Red Sea governorates in the east to the rest of the Upper Egypt governorates along the Nile Valley in the north and south.
