Alongside Caiado, Daniel, Gustavo and Sandro, Mayor Vilmar joins União Brasil

Vilmar joins the governor’s base in Aparecida and will run for re-election with the support of UB, MDB and almost 20 political parties

The mayor of Aparecida de Goiânia, Vilmar Mariano, joined the União Brasil party this Thursday, April 4th. Vilmar leaves MDB after agreement with governor Ronaldo Caiado (UB); the vice-governor, Daniel Vilela (MDB) and the former mayor Gustavo Mendanha (MDB).

The strategy is part of the strengthening of the MDB and União Brasil alliance in Goiás. Together, Caiado and Daniel want to make up the majority of mayors and strengthen the project of Caiado and Daniel’s presidential election for governor.

The affiliation event at the party headquarters, in Goiânia, on which occasion the president of Fieg, Sandro Mabel, also joined the party to contest the majority elections in the capital. Vilmar’s trip to União Brasil also reinforces Mabel’s future campaign in Goiânia.

Mabel, who was the first president of the Commercial and Industrial Association of Aparecida de Goiânia (Aciag), worked actively to maintain unity between Vilmar and Gustavo.

“I want to give special thanks to Governor Ronaldo Caiado for being very courteous in our first conversation. Thank you to everyone who helped sew and helped build this moment. We are going to win the election in Aparecida and together continue the legacy of Maguito Vilela” said Mayor Vilmar.

Vilmar praised the presence of former mayors, deputies, councilors and former city councilors at the event, which demonstrated the unity of the União Brasil and MDB project in Goiás and Aparecida. “Political unity is the first step to building people’s unity”, he reinforced.

Governor Ronaldo Caiado, who also presides over União Brasil in Goiás, highlighted the importance of Vilmar’s affiliation with the party. “This is the union we formed to re-elect Vilmar Mariano in Aparecidq and elect Sandro Mabel in Goiânia. We are going to create a “44” belt in Aparecida, Goiânia and in all nearby cities to provide better management in Goiás and in the municipalities”, highlighted Caiado.

For the vice-governor, Daniel Vilela, this moment demonstrates the maturity of a political group. “My heart sinks with Vilmar’s affiliation with União, but I am aware that we are one team. What I want from Aparecida is to have a friend who continues my father’s legacy and who continues to make the population proud, which is what we see today, the people of Aparecida are proud of the city they live in. This project will continue to live under his leadership, Vilmar, with our support and with the support of Governor Ronaldo Caiado”, he pointed out.

The former mayor of Aparecida de Goiânia, Gustavo Mendanha also highlighted the union of forces for the best for the population. “It is a joy to be present at the affiliation of two important figures who will work for the good of our population. I’m here with my companions to say that we will be working together for the population of our cities. Today we lend a hand with great maturity in favor of Aparecida and Goiânia. May God bless each one,” he stated.

Several leaders from Aparecida followed Mayor Vilmar’s decision and joined União Brasil, including the First Lady and Secretary of Social Assistance, Sulnara Santana; state deputy Veter Martins, who left the PRD; and several councilors who will be announced at a meeting in Aparecida.

Deputy Sylvie Alves also declares support for Vilmar and Sandro

The federal deputy with the most votes in the last election and who scored well in polls of voting intentions for mayor in Goiânia or Aparecida, Sylvie Alves, also participated in the event and just like the governor, the deputy and the former mayor of Aparecida will support Vilmar in Aparecida and Sandro in Goiânia.

The president of the Legislative Assembly of Goiás, Bruno Peixoto, who was the first state leader of União Brasil to declare support for Vilmar’s re-election in 2023, was also present at the event that brought together deputies, former deputies, mayors of Senador Canedo and Goianira , councilors, secretaries and leaders.

2024 Elections – The 2024 Municipal Elections are scheduled for October 6th, 1st round, with the 2nd round, if necessary, on October 27th.

Party affiliation to run for office in 2024 must be completed by April 6, a period that corresponds to six months before the elections.
