Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, stressed the depth of Egyptian relations, describing them as historical relations with strong roots and political, economic and strategic dimensions.
During a television interview for the “Facts and Secrets” program with journalist Mustafa Bakri, broadcast on “Sada El Balad” on Thursday evening, he pointed out the importance of the Bab al-Mandab Strait as it is the key to Egyptian national security and Egypt’s southern gateway.
He stated that Yemen coordinated with Egypt during the October 1973 War to close Bab al-Mandab and received Egyptian naval ships, given that Yemen did not have naval ships at that time, similar to what King Faisal did by stopping the export of oil.
Al-Alimi explained that policies may change; But Egyptian-Yemeni relations remain deep and popular, pointing out that relations between the two countries have been linked by blood since 1968, after the Egyptian people provided tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded in the Yemen war.
He pointed out that the Egyptian military campaign into Yemen during the September 26 Yemeni revolution; It was not a purely military campaign; Rather, it was a civilizational campaign that included education, schools, electricity, water, and enlightenment
He explained that all the companies present in Yemen now, such as Yemeni Airlines, companies, the Yemeni Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and ministries; It was created by Egyptian experts in the sixties, adding that the Yemenis studied and learned at the hands of Egyptian teachers.
