Did you know that many times the success in your work or in your relationships depends on your boss?

There is a part of your brain that performs the function of a boss, there are good bosses that lead you to success and not so good bosses that can sink you and get you into trouble.

Your internal boss is called the Frontal Lobe and it is located in the anterior part of the brain and occupies approximately 30%, it is much more developed in humans than in animals, in chimpanzees it occupies 17%, 3.5% in cats and 1% in mice.

Some of the most important functions of its job are: It allows you to stay focused, control your impulses, it works as a brake that prevents you from saying or doing stupid things.

Everyone has weird, stupid or nasty thoughts, no one should ever listen to them. People with good frontal lobe function don’t let go.

The Frontal Lobe is involved in functions such as organization, advance planning, with empathy, learning from the mistakes we make so as not to repeat them over and over again.

When there are problems in the Frontal Lobe we can have a short attention span, be disorganized, we do not control impulses, we procrastinate, we are late for appointments, we do not think things through before doing or saying them, we tend to be brutally honest which does not help much because human relationships require tact. Lack of empathy, they tend to see the negative, lie, get into conflicts, look for drama and end up making very bad decisions.

Some things that impact the frontal lobe are unhealthy habits like smoking, obesity, head injuries, some types of depression.

How do you maintain a good relationship with your boss to be successful in your life?

1. Define your objectives; you have to tell the brain what you want.

3. Diet rich in protein and low in simple carbohydrates.

4. Deep breaths.

5. Medicines or supplements like Ginkgo always prescribed by a doctor.

6. Don’t say everything you think.

7. Work to inhibit your negative impulses.

Exercise: Squeeze and Smile!

1. Before acting impulsively, in a situation of fear or anger, inhale deeply through your nose.

$!Inhale.

Inhale.

2. You hold the air for a couple of seconds. You exhale through your nose

$!Fill your lungs with air.  exhale.

Fill your lungs with air. exhale.

4. Simultaneously, you squeeze your buttocks hard and at the same time put on a slight smile.

$!Squeeze hard.

Squeeze hard.

5. You keep squeezing, smiling and breathing for 1 to 3 minutes.

$!And don't forget to smile.

And don’t forget to smile.

This exercise is worth gold and will help you avoid conflicts. Practice every day so that you get used to using it before the situation occurs.
