PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms Monday to extend DeVonta Smith’s contract for three years through the end of the 2028 season.
The decision includes the Eagles picking up Smith’s fifth-year option for the 2025 season.
Smith has 240 receptions for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns in three seasons with the Eagles. Smith was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 2020 with Alabama and won two national titles in four years with the Crimson Tide.
The contract extension was reportedly for $75 million, of which $51 million is guaranteed. His best season was in 2022 when he helped Philadelphia reach the Super Bowl with 95 catches and 1,196 yards.
With this extension the Eagles continue their busy offseason.
They signed Giants running back Saquon Barkley and linebackers Bryce Huff and Zack Baun, three free-agent acquisitions that were part of the roster changes after the team’s collapse at the end of the previous season. Safety CJ Gardner-Johnson is back a year after the team let him go in free agency. Receiver DeVante Parker will receive a one-year, $4.69 million guaranteed deal and the Eagles also signed offensive lineman Matt Hennessy.
The Eagles also agreed to sign former Tampa Bay linebacker Devin White to a one-year, $7.5 million deal.
Kicker Jake Elliott, guard Landon Dickerson and defensive end Brandon Graham also signed agreements to remain with the Eagles.
Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox retired and left Philadelphia so there are only 2 players left who won the Super Bowl in 2017.
