The European Union (EU) Foreign Ministers will meet this Tuesday, via videoconference, to discuss the increase in tensions in the Middle East, following the attack carried out by Iran against Israel.
The meeting, which will take place entirely via videoconference, was called by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and will be attended by the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel.
The main topic of the meeting, which will start at 5pm local time (4pm in Lisbon), is the worsening of tensions in the Middle East, after an “unprecedented” escalation.
Last Saturday night and early Sunday morning, Iran launched a large-scale attack against Israel, sending more than 300 drones, cruise and ballistic missiles. The Tel Aviv Army managed to intercept the vast majority of the projectiles.
This Iranian attack is a response to “the aggression of the Zionist regime” carried out against Iranian diplomatic facilities in Damascus (Syria), on April 1st, with Israel killing seven members of the Revolutionary Guard and six Syrian citizens.
