The Government informed, in a note issued this Saturday, that the State’s expenditure with the organization of the World Youth Day (WYD) in Lisbon, in August, will be 30 million euros.
“The responsibilities and commitments assumed by the State in the World Youth Day could thus reach up to 21.8 million euros”, reads the note sent by the office of the Deputy Minister and Parliamentary Affairs.
To this amount are added 8.2 million euros from a contract “awarded by IP (Infraestruturas de Portugal) for the displacement of the container terminal”, he also informs.
Thus, in total, the State’s expenditure will be 30 million, excluding value added tax (VAT) here, since this reverts to the State, underlines the Government, adding that “the State will also participate through the support, namely, in the area of health, safety, assistance and mobility”.
The 21.8 million euros include “amounts related to the mission unit, the acquisition of multimedia towers, sanitary facilities, television transmission, water supply, military bridge, promotion of the country abroad, command and security centre, support center for the national and international press”, details the ministry of Ana Catarina Mendes.
The 8.2 million euros result from the contract for the movement of the container terminal, “within the requalification, environmental enhancement and enjoyment of the riverside area of the Bobadela park”.
The new values thus correct the initial estimates, made by the Government in October, which pointed to costs of 36.5 million euros.
