A statement issued by the Doctors Syndicate said that efforts to rescue the player began by receiving him in the emergency department of Zamzam Hospital, where he was received by Dr. Muhammad Alaa, the intensive care doctor and the hospital’s medical team, provided him with first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for two hours, until he returned to life, and was admitted to intensive care and placed on ventilators.

“The treatment journey of the player Ahmed Refaat inside Zamzam Hospital took about 16 days, during which he received medical care to the fullest extent, until he returned to full consciousness,” says the intensive care consultant at Zamzam Hospital, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamdi, adding that the doctors in the hospital followed medical protocols. Global treatment from the first moment, until their efforts were crowned with success in saving the player’s life.

He added that the player, Ahmed Refaat, was transferred to a hospital in Cairo, based on his and his family’s wishes, after his health improved and he regained full consciousness. He was removed from the respirator, and his heart condition was checked, which was working well, without disturbances, thanks to God Almighty. And the medical team at Zamzam Hospital.

He pointed out that the treating medical team included Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Minshawy, Intensive Care Consultant, Prof. Imad Hamdi, Intensive Care Consultant, and Dr. Tamer Salem, Director of Intensive Care at Zamzam Hospital, and a number of specialist doctors, including Dr. Muhammad Alaa El-Din Mansour, Dr. Rami Ahmed, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharqawi, Dr. Wissam Salah, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Dr. Haitham Magdy, Dr. Ahmed Ghaly, Dr. Muhammad Mortada, Dr. Asmaa Al-Amin, Dr. Essam Abdel Nabi, Dr. Amna Abu Bakr, Dr. Omnia Sayed, in addition to the hospital’s nursing staff.

For his part, the head of the Medical Syndicate, Dr. Osama Abdel-Hay thanked all Egyptian doctors for their efforts, stressing the necessity of providing a suitable work environment for doctors, and quickly issuing a law regulating medical liability, ensuring that the investigation of the doctor is carried out by a specialized technical committee, and the penalties therein are compensation for the patient if the error is proven, not imprisonment, and insurance in a manner Compulsory against professional errors, increasing the penalty for assaulting health facilities and their workers, making it an irreconcilable crime, and other legitimate demands.

The Secretary General of the Medical Syndicate, Dr. Mohamed Farid Hamdi, with a greeting of thanks and respect to the medical team that treated Future Club player Ahmed Refaat, and to all the doctors and members of the medical team who do everything in their power daily to save the lives of thousands of patients, under working conditions that everyone knows how difficult they are.

Muhammad Farid Hamdy said that doctors perform their mission with all sincerity in all departments of Egyptian hospitals to treat the sick and injured and relieve their pain, yet they suffer from many problems, pointing out that the solutions to these problems are known to everyone, but the will to make decisions that would solve these problems is absent.

The Rapporteur of the Information Committee of the General Syndicate of Physicians, Dr. Ahmed Mabrouk Al-Sheikh, on the need to improve the work environment of doctors inside hospitals, provide equipment and supplies to ensure the provision of good and safe medical care and improve the living conditions of doctors inside the facilities (housing – nutrition), in addition to raising the low salaries of doctors, increasing pensions and approving the supplementary pension fund provided by the union.

He pointed out the need to remove the problems and obstacles of licensing complex and expensive private medical facilities, and to develop radical solutions to the problems of hiring newly graduated doctors and providing them with decent accommodation.
