‘Marcelitos’, ‘Monri-luches’ and ‘Clauditas’; ‘corcholatas’ already have their own stuffed animals

Stuffed animals of the candidates for the presidential candidacy for Morena have arrived to win the sympathy of the voters before the next elections, in 2024.

The “Monri-luche” is a stuffed toy that stands out with its glasses, wears a black suit, white shirt and a cherry tie.

The “Amlitos” were recently prohibited by the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) to be used as propaganda.

The foregoing, after the coordinator of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) bench in the Chamber of Deputies, Jorge Álvarez Maynez, filed a complaint with the organization, when pointing out that the “Amlitos” would be used to support the candidacies of the Morenista “corcholatas”.

The Superior Chamber of the TEPJF determined that there is a constitutional basis to determine that the use is illegal, because President López Obrador is a public servant who is not running for electionsTherefore, the constitutional principle of equity in the contest is violated.

The “Amlito” was designed in 2006 by José Hernández, better known as “Monero” Hernándezpolitical cartoonist, during López Obrador’s first presidential campaign.

In that election, the then candidate of the PRD and that of the PAN, Felipe Calderón, were tied in the electoral calculations, for which AMLO asked for a count of “vote by vote, box by box”. In this context, the “Monero” Hernández created the cartoon with the motto: “Smile, we are going to win.”
