Mayor Vilmar inspects road recovery works between Parque das Nações and Jardim Veneza

The rupture was caused by heavy rain on Tuesday, which damaged the manhole, causing a landslide.

The Mayor of Aparecida de Goiânia, Vilmar Mariano, inspected this Wednesday morning, the 10th, the reconstruction work on the storm sewer on Avenida Brasil, the road that connects the Parque das Nações and Jardim Veneza sectors. The stretch was affected by the rains last Tuesday, 9th. The works are being carried out by the Aparecida Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinfra).

According to the Infrastructure Secretariat’s engineering team, the high volume of water burst the manhole (PV), a place that receives water from the storm drains of both neighborhoods, and broke the compaction of the road’s paving. The work began with signage carried out by the Executive Secretariat for Mobility and Traffic and after that, measures were taken to ensure that the runway did not give way. In this first stage, Seinfra is removing the earth to investigate the problem and thus resolve the issue, compacting the track again.

“Our team, together with the Civil Defense, closed the road so that Seinfra can work safely and also offer greater security for residents of the two neighborhoods. We know the importance of this Avenue and the works will be completed as quickly as possible to resume traffic on the road”, stated Mayor Vilmar Mariano when visiting the site this Wednesday morning, accompanied by councilor Diony Nery.

After cleaning the track and surrounding areas, the best actions will be defined to speed up the reconstruction of the PV and other tools to ensure that the reception box rupture does not occur again. This will also make it possible to redo the asphalt in the affected area. Until the works are completed, Seinfra and Civil Defense warn drivers to respect the signs and look for alternative routes to the closure.
