Mexicali, BC- The Mexicali Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) reports the activation of the protocol for the use of lethal force after a violent incident in the vicinity of the Silva neighborhood in the Mexicali Valley area, The murdered attacker is related to a violent vehicle robbery as well as the homicide of a man nicknamed “el wero.”

During the early hours of this Thursday, the violent robbery of a gray Jeep Liberty vehicle, whose owner was tied up, was reported to the officers assigned to the Valle Sur area. The victim’s relative requested urgent support from the municipal police since a man whom he identified as “el wero” was also inside the property. He was severely injured, apparently with wounds caused by a machete-type weapon, minutes later he was declared dead.

The search and containment operation for the alleged perpetrator was immediately activated; with the characteristics of the vehicle, it could be located in circulation on state highway #3.After requesting to stop using a code and siren, the driver ignored the indication and began a brief chase that extended over the same stretch of road.

With the support of patrol units, a perimeter was established to contain them, however, the driver used a firearm to threaten the officers who, faced with the real, current and imminent threat, activated the protocol for the use of lethal force to neutralize the aggression. , Later, paramedics provided him with medical attention at a hospital in the Nuevo León ejido, but his death was confirmed.

The aggressor is identified as a generator of insecurity involved in multiple criminal behaviorsmainly in incidents of robberies with violence, from self-service, hardware stores, vehicles and pedestrians in different communities in the Mexicali Valley.

An approved police report was prepared for investigation before the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), to integrate the investigations into vehicle theft, homicide, as well as the use of lethal force.
