Osama Rabie inspects the new Suez Canal Authority Museum

Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, visited the Suez Canal Museum to monitor the progress of work and monitor the reactions and impressions of museum visitors during the trial opening period.

Rabie stressed the great importance that the Suez Canal Museum represents in preserving and documenting the history of the canal, recording its defining moments, its important events, and the challenges it has gone through throughout its history, so that the museum remains a memory of the canal and a witness to its contemporaries and the events it is witnessing.

During his presence in the hall dedicated to narrating the events of the saga of the refloating of the Panamanian container ship Ever Given, Rabie greeted the authority’s employees and congratulated them on the anniversary of Excellence Day, which coincides with the anniversary of the successful refloating of the ship, saying that it has become a milestone in the authority’s ability to confront challenges efficiently and competently.

He explained that the stranding of the Ever Given ship was a complex and unprecedented crisis, and the efforts to manage it were crowned with success thanks to those in charge of the rescue work, the full support of the political leadership, and its periodic follow-up of efforts to resolve the crisis around the clock.

He expressed his hope for the return of stability once again to the Red Sea region and the regularity of global supply chains, stressing that the Suez Canal continues to provide its services to passing ships despite the current challenges that prove that the Suez Canal will remain the fastest, shortest and most sustainable passage compared to alternative routes that do not achieve time savings. Distance and fuel consumption cause severe environmental damage that cannot be ignored.

The inspection tour of the museum included the museum exhibition halls, outdoor exhibition areas, and the services area attached to the museum.
