Sociologist and researcher Luís Moita died this Saturday at the age of 84

Luís Moita was one of the protagonists of the Capela do Rato vigil, in 1972, and was a scholar of war and peace, who cooperated with African countries.

The sociologist, who received a doctorate in Ethics from the Lateran University, in Italy, in 1967, was a Catholic priest and an active opponent of war and dictatorship, which is why he was a political prisoner in Caxias.

In addition to being vice-rector, Luís Moita was a member of the Scientific Council of the Autonomous University of Lisbon, full professor of “Theories of International Relations”, director of the Department of International Relations, and for many years he guided the research unit OBSERVARE – Observatório de Abroad, refers to the private higher education establishment.

In the communiqué, signed by António de Lencastre Bernardo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Founding Entity of the Autónoma and by its rector José Amado da Silva, the university is grateful for the contribution that Luis Moita made “to the excellence of teaching, research, and the prestige which he gave in his brilliant path that greatly contributed to the affirmation of the University”.

“Luís Moita’s life was a source.
