The Minister of Health discusses with the Ambassador of Spain the Ministry’s needs to continue providing medical support to our Palestinian brothers

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, received Ambassador Alvaro Iranzo, the Spanish Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, at the office of the Ministry of Health and Population in the New Administrative Capital.

The Minister began the meeting by emphasizing the strength and strength of Egyptian-Spanish relations at all levels, especially health care, stressing the keenness to develop and strengthen the bonds of joint cooperation, ensuring the advancement of all medical services provided to the Egyptian citizen.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the meeting discussed opportunities for joint cooperation between the two sides in various health sectors, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), which includes training medical and nursing teams and support groups, with the aim of raising their efficiency and improving the quality of medical services provided to citizens. .

Abdul Ghaffar added that the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the field of exchanging experiences in the specialty of ophthalmology, and raising the efficiency of medical teams in that specialty by bringing in experts from Spain and sending medical teams to receive training in Spain, in addition to cooperation and exchange of experiences in the fields of organ transplantation and transplantation. Blood, through training specialized medical teams, as Spain is one of the leading countries in these specialties.

Abdul Ghaffar indicated that the meeting discussed what had been accomplished in the ongoing health care projects between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Spanish Cooperation Agency, in addition to potential areas of cooperation between the two sides in the specializations of primary health care, preventive medicine, comprehensive health coverage, and digitization of medical services. And the exchange of experiences between the two sides in the One Health Strategy, which includes zoonotic diseases, food and water safety, environmental and climate changes, and combating antimicrobial resistance.

Abdel Ghaffar noted that the meeting reviewed the efforts of the Egyptian state in supporting the Palestinian brothers, since the beginning of the events in the Gaza Strip, noting that the Ministry of Health is following the crisis around the clock through the central operations room, through which coordination is being made with the Egyptian hospitals that receive the injured. And the wounded coming from the Gaza Strip.

Abdel Ghaffar continued that the meeting discussed the ministry’s plan and work axes in providing therapeutic services, complex specialized surgeries, and critical medical cases for Palestinian brothers, while monitoring chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney failure, and tumors, as well as providing preventive services, through infectious disease surveillance. Treating them and providing them with the necessary vaccinations and serums, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the two sides discussed the ministry’s needs, especially oncology supplies, to continue providing medical support to sick Palestinian brothers who receive medical services in Egypt, as the minister stressed Egypt’s keenness to provide all services to the brothers in the Gaza Strip.
