The Minister of Health witnesses the start of Governance Week activities at the Ministry’s General Office in the New Administrative Capital

Today, Sunday, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the start of the Governance Week activities at the Ministry’s General Office in the New Administrative Capital, which will be held during the period from February 18 to 22, in order to enhance the culture of governance among employees.

This came in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, Dr. Mohamed Al-Tayeb, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Governance and Technical Affairs, and Dr. Mai Farid, Executive Director of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the minister was keen to attend the first session introducing governance, stressing that this comes in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the government’s efforts to strengthen governance in the state’s administrative apparatus. It also comes within the framework of activating the new organizational structure of the Ministry. Health and population and enhancing the role of organizational division, internal audit and governance, which is considered an essential tool in government institutions to consolidate governance mechanisms.

Abdel Ghaffar indicated that 20 sessions are scheduled to be held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, aiming to raise awareness and introduce about 900 of its employees to the basic concepts of governance and its strategic and organizational framework through interactive sessions in which an elite group of the Ministry’s members who have been trained at the highest level will lecture. They obtained TOT courses from accredited bodies in the field of governance and sustainable development.

Abdel Ghaffar added that during the sessions, the state’s efforts in applying governance in general will be reviewed, and the most prominent successes achieved by the Egyptian government in applying governance to various services, indicating that the sessions will address the role of technology in applying governance, its importance, and the relationship of digital transformation to mechanization, moving to the governance of services and activities. The attendees also learned about the most prominent international experiences in applying governance. The Ministry also designed a digital questionnaire to evaluate the extent to which attendees benefited from the introductory sessions, evaluate the lecturers, and seek their opinions on topics related to governance that they are looking forward to learning about during the upcoming events, as part of the Ministry’s adoption of a long-term plan to enhance and consolidate the culture of governance among people. For his part, Dr. Mohamed Al-Tayeb, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Governance and Technical Affairs, confirmed that these sessions come as a first stage in the ministry’s plan and will be followed by advanced stages of training and qualification for workers in the various sectors in the ministry to apply governance in their various fields, in addition to the ministry’s endeavor to coordinate with local authorities. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Health and Population has made it possible for its members to register electronically to request attendance at sessions on an optional basis through a digital questionnaire that workers can participate in via their personal phone by entering directly on the electronic link to the questionnaire or by scanning the QR code.
