Ambassador Soha Gendi, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, conducted an inspection tour of “Baheya” Hospital for early detection and treatment of breast cancer, at its headquarters in the Al-Haram district in Giza, which has been providing its services to breast cancer fighters for 9 years.

Gendi praised the successes achieved by the Foundation since its founding and the high rates of recovery achieved, according to the target, in addition to providing integrated health care to every Egyptian woman and providing psychological support to fighters of breast cancer, a disease that affects the lives of one in every eight women according to recent global statistics, in addition to early detection. Ambassador Soha Gendy congratulated those in charge of the hospital on the opening of the first phase of its branch in Sheikh Zayed, stressing the state’s support for the implementation of this large expansion to also include operating rooms and a research center, which is not available in the Al-Haram branch. It also includes the emergency department, intensive care, laboratories, pharmacy, and diagnostic radiology departments, with the aim of increasing the absorptive capacity. She explained that this disease does not only affect the lives of sick women, but it affects the entire family because women have an essential role in building the Egyptian family and managing their livelihood, which confirms the necessity of increasing awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer in light of the successes achieved by the President of the Republic’s initiative. To support women’s health, which has contributed to increasing the rates of cases detected early, and reducing access to the late stages, as early detection contributes to reaching recovery rates of up to 98%.

She appreciated the efforts of Egyptian scientists and experts abroad in contributing to alleviating the suffering of patients, and exchanging experiences with doctors at home, during scientific conferences, including the “Migratory Birds Conference for Treating Oncology Patients,” which was held in Luxor Governorate, as well as participating in great efforts in treating oncology patients in a number of countries. She added that there is ongoing and ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Immigration, the Baheya Foundation, and our Egyptian experts abroad in the field of health care with their various specialties. During the tour, the Minister of Immigration praised the creativity of the cancer fighters, and the artwork they created in textiles, fine art, handicrafts, and others. She inspected the fighters’ workshops, expressed her great happiness with the creativity they accomplished, and listened to their experiences in the confrontation.
