The Minister of Labor meets a delegation from the European Training Foundation to activate ways of cooperation

Shehata reviews before the international delegation the ministry’s efforts to qualify young people for the professions needed by the labor market at home and abroad.

Today, Thursday, at the Ministry’s General Office, Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, met with a delegation from the European Training Foundation, one of the European Union agencies. To discuss activating ways of joint cooperation in the field of “vocational training”, developing the skills of Egyptian youth and qualifying them for the labor market at home and abroad, according to international standards, and supporting job and employment opportunities.

The delegation includes Belvi Torsti, Director of the Foundation, Pasqualino Marie, Senior Expert in Human Capital Development and Country Coordinator, Simon Ruff, Director General of Neighborhood Negotiations, and Ahlam Farouk, Representative of the European Union Delegation to Egypt.

Shehata said, in a press statement today, Thursday, that the Ministry has a sufficient balance of work in the field of vocational training, as it has 75 fixed and mobile vocational training centers spread across all governorates, operating within the framework of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” to train young people for free.

It recently launched the “Vocational 2030” project, in cooperation with the “private sector,” through which it aims to develop the vocational training system and train one million trainees in the professions needed by the labor market at home and abroad.

The minister added that the ministry had signed a cooperation protocol with the Italian Saiyan Institute Don Bosco in Cairo and Alexandria since last September, and its results have now appeared with the graduation of nearly 1,000 trainees, within the framework of a plan that the ministry aims to graduate 10,000 trainees with international standards, and develop the Hejaz Training Center, which focuses on developing… Skills on languages ​​and future careers.

The foreign delegation praised the participation of the Minister of Labor, Hassan Shehata, in the Union for the Mediterranean Conference held last year in the Spanish capital, Madrid, and his emphasis on the importance of strengthening relations between European countries and the countries of the southern Mediterranean, in line with the European Year of Skills, and discussing the file of skills, technical education, vocational training, and supporting transitions. Demographic, digital and green in the EU countries.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Legal Advisor, Ihab Abdel Ati, Shaima Mahmoud, Head of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office, Rasha Abdel Baset, Head of the Central Administration for International Relations and Follow-up of National Employment Affairs Abroad, and Omnia Abdel Hamid, Technical Assistant in the Minister’s Office.

It is noteworthy that the European Training Foundation is affiliated with the European Union, and has been working extensively in Egypt since 2015, cooperating in plans and projects to develop youth skills and create decent and sustainable job opportunities.
