The Minister of Transport inspects Irmas workshops specialized in overhaul and maintenance of railway tractors

The Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, conducted an inspection tour of the workshops of the Egyptian Company for Maintenance and Railway Services (ERMAS), which specializes in the overhaul and maintenance of railway tractors, in order to follow up on the maintenance and various overhauls of the tractors.
According to the ministry’s statement on Thursday, the minister held an expanded meeting with a large group of workers in various workshops across the republic, and had breakfast with them, in the presence of the head of the Railway Authority, Mohamed Amer, the leaders of the authority, and the head of the Irmas Company, Major General Mohamed Abdel Latif.
The tour began by inspecting the maintenance work of a number of tractors of various models and types. Then the Minister inspected a number of production workshops that produce a number of spare parts, as part of the Ministry’s implementation of a comprehensive plan to localize the transportation industry in Egypt and the industries feeding it, in implementation of presidential directives.
The Minister saw a number of spare parts that were produced in the workshop, such as spark plugs, tires, brake mechanisms, air tanks, and the flywheel gear for diesel engines. The Minister of Transport also inspected a number of modern equipment, such as CNC boring equipment for rehabilitating traction motor bodies and engine bodies with which the workshop was reinforced in A comprehensive plan framework for developing various workshops and supporting them with the latest modern equipment.
Then the Minister of Transport held an extensive meeting with a large group of workers in various workshops across the Republic, from various professions in those workshops.
At the beginning of his speech, he congratulated them on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and the advent of the blessed Eid al-Fitr, noting that since he had the honor of assuming the portfolio of the Ministry of Transport, he pledged before President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Republic, and the Egyptian people, that the Railway Authority would be at the forefront of the state’s bodies, and that this would be done with the help of its people. .
The Minister said that a comprehensive plan was drawn up to develop the railway system, based on five axes: (development of mobile units of tractors and wagons – development of the railway and infrastructure – development of signaling systems – development of workshops – rehabilitation of the current human element and selection of new elements in accordance with the highest selection standards).
He added that with regard to the development of workshops, the Irmas workshop was the first workshop he visited after taking over the transport portfolio. The company was making losses, the equipment was dilapidated, and there was no plan to develop it, so an urgent plan was drawn up to develop it within the framework of the comprehensive plan to develop all workshops nationwide and support them with the latest equipment. And now Irmas is making gains with the help of its children, and the number of tractor repairs has increased, stressing the need to make all efforts to continue achieving these gains and increase productivity further.
In the context of the great interest in the human element as one of the most important elements of the system’s success, new standards and methodology were developed to select the human element scheduled to join workers in the railway sector through testing, qualification and training in accordance with the highest standards, whether through the Military College or the Military Technological College, in parallel with the implementation of a comprehensive plan. To rehabilitate, train and educate the current human element.
The Chairman and leaders of the Railway Authority directed the establishment of a complete learning center inside the Irmas workshop, which will be a miniature model of the Wardan Institute, within the framework of a plan to train, qualify and educate the human element, pointing out the need to continue paying attention to creating a suitable work environment for all workers, improving social services for them, and developing the health care system to provide The highest levels of health service for all employees.
He stressed the need to benefit from qualified employees and extensive experience in transferring that experience to new employees, with the need for all employees to perform their tasks according to the job description card for each employee and to apply the principle of reward and punishment, while emphasizing that profits are for companies that achieve gains.
He stressed that no tractor should leave the workshop until its technical condition has been confirmed to increase safety and security rates, provide distinguished services to passengers, and maintain train schedules. He pointed to the interest in the railway’s traction power, as it has been reinforced with new tractors, rehabilitation, and raising the efficiency and maintenance of the current tractors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister honored 10 of the authority’s employees from different sects (train conductors, station supervisors, tower foremen, and hammer guards) who excelled in their work and showed commitment to regulations, laws and instructions, prevented dangers that were about to occur, and preserved the lives of a number of citizens. And passengers.
The Minister thanked the honorees for their distinguished work, and described them as an honorable face for the employees of the Railway Authority and an example of dedication and sincerity in serving citizens.
He pointed out the need for all employees to compete to serve citizens, and to deal with the public in all situations with complete respect and in accordance with the law, while continuing to not allow any passenger to enter without a ticket in order to preserve the authority’s financial resources, which are used to provide distinguished services to passengers.
